The Story of Our New Home

For nearly eight years our church was blessed to meet in rented space at the South Carolina State Museum. It was a great space that worked well, but with the growth of our congregation we became increasingly aware of how that arrangement placed limitations on our ministry. So we began trying to find our own campus: a sacred space where we could grow and expand our ministry.

After much prayer and consultation we purchased an older church on a small piece of property at 1520 Bull Street, right in the heart of the City of Columbia. Our new building is less than a mile from both the State House and the University of South Carolina. It is at the intersection of several major traffic arteries that cross the Central Midlands, and lies at the border of the downtown business district and the Robert Mills Historic District.

We are thankful for our new church, and believe that we can grow here in response to the Great Commission. We also believe that this new church will facilitate our parish growth in grace. We look forward to the next steps that we will take in that role.

Along the way, parishioners and friends have encouraged our progress with their contributions. These gifts have come in different ways: some made contributions of time and effort in planning, some helped with physical labor, some interceded with prayer, and many provided the financial resources needed to help the building project move forward. We are thankful for all of them.

Our new church is a place for ministry. And we still need you to join us, and to support this ministry financially. You can help to provide a solid foundation for ministry by making a contribution to the Building Fund. Major steps have been taken, but your contribution can help to complete the job and to retire bank obligations that have been made.

Will you join us? You may direct a contribution to the Church of the Apostles Building Fund by writing Building Fund in the memo line of a personal check, and sending it to the church office. Contributions can be made on behalf of others if you wish, and all contributions are tax deductible.

What is our Next Step? Upholding the faith, more encouragement, and more ministry.
