What we're doing to minister

Apostles works to deepen the maturity of the saints while adding to their number and engaging the world as his disciples.  God's call on our lives pertains to the far reaches of the world as well as our local community, and he also calls us to love and support each other within the church.  Below is a sampling of some of the ways we seek to answer this call at Church of the Apostles.

World Ministry

Community Ministry

Many of our parish ministries (below) are open to the community and have regular interaction with people outside our parish.  A few of our ministries take specific aim in this direction.  Apostles has engaged in ministry to the chronically homeless in Columbia, and we participate in the annual Homeless for the Homeless event.  We also support and participate regularly in Kairos Prison Ministry, a ministry to inmates at local prisons.  In an effort to advance youth and young-adult ministry outside of our own parish, Apostles financially supports Young Life Columbia and Campus Crusade for Christ.  Church of the Apostles also seasonally offers Discipleship Weekends, opportunities to explore an important issue in depth.  Some of our past speakers have included Dr. J.I. Packer (named one of Time's 25 most influential evangelicals), Dr. Jerry Root (C.S. Lewis scholar and co-author of The Quotable Lewis), Wade Bradshaw (of the English branch of the L'Abri Fellowship, author of Searching for a Better God, and of By Demonstration: God), Mark Galli (author of Jesus Mean and Wild), and Rob Ribbe (director of HoneyRock Camp).  These Discipleship Weekends (Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Sunday morning) are advertised to the community and hosted by Apostles.

Parish Ministry

Thanks for taking the time to learn how Church of the Apostles seeks to minister to the world, to our community and within our own parish.  If you are interested in getting involved in or would like any further information about our ministries, please contact any of our clergy.
