The Man Born to Be King
March 15, 22 & 29, April 5 & 19
A series of radio plays by Dorothy L Sayer
We’ll share a potluck dinner and a brief time of worship before enjoying an edited version of Dorothy Sayers’ BBC radio plays, The Man Born to Be King. The plays will be followed by a “talk-back,” a chance to ask questions of, and to discuss the material.
A noted—and funny—writer of murder mysteries, Sayers firmly believed that the greatest sin was to bore people with “the Greatest Story Ever Told”. This series is her retelling of that Great Story in which doctrine, dogma, and ethics all make an appearance, but at its heart it is a drama in which God in Christ is the central protagonist. God appearing. God seeking. God crucified. God rising. God saving. Bouncing from fun, silliness and lightheartedness, to looming threats, political intrigue, and spiritual twists. Grace, delight, and joy mark Sayers’ scenes, intersecting with sin, despair, and damnation. We hope you will join us! Childcare provided.
