What we're doing on Sunday mornings
Sunday morning at Church of the Apostles is centered around our two Eucharistic services, which use the liturgy of the Book of Common Prayer (1979) as well as a few other sources. The first service begins at 9a, the second service, at 10.45a. If you would like to peruse a sample bulletin, please click on the following link: Order of Service
Musically, Church of the Apostles seeks to reflect the diversity of church backgrounds that are represented in the congregation by incorporating a range of styles. Songs are selected based on the richness of their theology, the aesthetic of their music and poetry, and a prevailing emphasis on God. Song selection also reflects the scripture readings of the given Sunday as well as the themes and the posture of the liturgical season.
During the first service, Christian education is offered for adults, and children ages 4 years through 5th grade enjoy Children's Worship, exiting the main service before the sermon and returning before communion. During the second service, Christian education is offered for all ages, with classes designated for K-2nd, 3rd-5th, Jr. High girls, Jr. High guys, High School, and adults.
Nursery is available during both services.
Between services and after the second service there is a time of fellowship and refreshment in the adjoining atrium of the State Museum. The atrium opens into the parking garage on the west side (opposite Huger street) of the museum; please plan to park here when you visit us.
